    Krobo Edusei was born in 1919 in the town of Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He was the son of a cocoa farmer and was educated at the local mission school. After completing his education, he worked as a clerk in the colonial administration. He later joined the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), a political party that was formed to fight for the independence of Ghana.
